My next play is titled “Devilfish” – and I’m so nervous/excited!

It premieres at Perseverance Theatre in September for Juneau, and then October in Anchorage at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.

The story itself is an adaptation of a book I wrote, inspired by clan stories of my childhood. In brief, the giant devilfish – like an octopus – destroys an entire village, and there’s only one survivor, a young child.

As a kid, I always wondered how that child survived, and how she became our ancestor. Those wonderings turned into stories, which turned into writing, which turned into a script.

And here’s the first little peek at it become a reality! Wonder-set designer Akiko Rotch created this model of the set for us to look at.
