Audobon Alaska asked for an interview and I was like – I dunno, am I really that into birds? So I did the interview surrounded by my bird art all over my walls, talked about all my major productions which all feature birds, my upcoming novel which features an ornithologist, in view of my Tlingit (Indigenous) regalia with bird crests on them, seated by my binoculars and Alaska bird book.
I’m starting to suspect I’m a “bird person.”
What a great discussion though about culture and Indigenous storytelling and differences of conservation and poetry.
